Something new is taking shape behind the scenes, and while we’re not quite ready to reveal the finished design, we wanted to share a first glimpse of what’s coming soon to Cradle and Cable.
At Cradle and Cable, we love the character that comes from traditional knitting techniques — the texture of cables, the rhythm of repeated stitches and the way carefully chosen colours can completely change the feel of a design.
This particular knit brings all of those things together.
A Closer Look at What’s Coming Soon
For now, we’re only sharing a little glimpse.
The yarn combines warm natural shades with touches of deep berry, soft green and burnt orange, creating a rich, almost autumnal feel.
Look a little closer and you’ll see layers of texture running throughout the knitting. Bold cable details sit alongside more intricate sections, creating shadows and highlights as the fabric catches the light.
This Cradle and Cable coming soon project brings together rich colour, traditional texture and carefully worked cable details.
It’s the kind of piece that rewards a closer look.
Every section has been worked slowly and carefully, and watching the pattern emerge row by row has been one of the pleasures of making it.
Traditional Stitches and Plenty of Texture
Traditional knitting is at the heart of much of what we create at Cradle and Cable.
Cable stitches have been used for generations, yet they never seem to lose their appeal. They bring depth, softness and character to knitted fabric and can transform even the simplest yarn into something wonderfully tactile.
Here, the cables are combined with smaller textured details and changing colours, giving the knitting a distinctive character of its own.
There’s plenty happening in this little photograph — but not quite enough to give the secret away.
Something New for Cradle and Cable
This is more than a little knitting experiment.
The piece you’re looking at will become part of something we’re very excited about, and we’re deliberately keeping the finished design under wraps for just a little longer.
There are still more stitches to work, details to finish and final touches to add before it’s ready for its proper introduction.
But we think it will be worth waiting for.

We’re not revealing the answer yet.
Instead, we’re going to let the knitting do the teasing.
Over the coming weeks we’ll share more behind-the-scenes glimpses from Cradle and Cable, including new designs, works in progress and some of the techniques and details that go into making our handmade babywear.
