Cradle and Cable babywear was created from a love of traditional knitting, beautiful textures and timeless baby clothes. Our aim is simple: to make cosy, carefully finished pieces for babies that feel a little different from mass-produced clothing.
From classic cable-knit cardigans and cosy beanies to seasonal designs and special gifts, every Cradle and Cable piece is made with care. We particularly love traditional stitches such as cables, moss stitch and Aran-inspired patterns, combined with soft colours and practical designs suitable for little ones.
Cradle and Cable Babywear, Made in Small Quantities
Cradle and Cable babywear isn’t a factory, and that’s very much the point.
Our babywear is made in small quantities, with many pieces knitted individually rather than produced in large batches. This allows us to pay attention to the details — from the yarn and stitch pattern to the finishing, labels and packaging.
It also means that colours, sizes and designs may sometimes only be available in limited numbers. For us, that is part of the appeal of handmade babywear. Each piece has had time and attention devoted to it before it reaches its new home.
Traditional Knitting for Modern Families
Many of the techniques used in our babywear have been loved for generations.
Cable patterns, textured stitches and cosy knitted layers have an enduring appeal, but we want our designs to work for today’s babies and families too.
You’ll find easy-to-wear cardigans, warm hats and practical seasonal pieces alongside more distinctive designs that make lovely gifts for new babies, birthdays, baby showers and other special occasions.
We also love experimenting with seasonal ideas. During autumn and winter, for example, you’ll see designs inspired by the colours, textures and character of the seasons alongside our more traditional knitted pieces.

Making the knitted item is only part of the process of Cradle and Cable babywear.
We pay attention to the finishing touches too, including labels, presentation and packaging. Our aim is for a Cradle and Cable order to feel special when it arrives, whether you’ve chosen something for your own little one or are sending it as a gift.
As the collection develops, we’ll also be introducing new designs, limited seasonal pieces and opportunities to order selected items in advance.
